Please consider joining us for upcoming workshops and gallery shows. Over the next four weeks, we will be featuring cooking, yoga and meditation, calligraphy, theatre and pottery for kids, and an exhibit of artwork by military veterans.
On the evening of May 29, 2015, the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts will be proudly hosting an exhibit of the combined works of Lisa and Rob Papp.
Lisa, an accomplished author and illustrator, and her husband, Rob, also an accomplished illustrator, will be showcasing samples of their work for our community to enjoy.
The exhibit and opening reception will be in our art center farmhouse. The reception will run from 5:00 until 7:30 pm.
This exhibit will be another special treat…and a must-see for students and aspiring artists and illustrators.
There are four art camps being offered this summer at the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts. Details are available on our events page. There are great opportunities for area children to do pottery, crafts, designing, and theatre.
Camp opportunities exist in June, July, and August.
Have your kids join in the fun !!!!
On Friday evening, April 24, we hosted two interesting exhibits. One was an exhibit of work by four of our designers from Kathy Davis Studios. The other was work by students from Philadelphia’s University of the Arts. The evening featured an opportunity to view work, meet the artists, visit with friends, and tour Kathy Davis Studios. Aside from all of this, the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts featured live music and the opportunity for kids to create their own masterpieces.
On Saturday, April 25, the SJCA took their show on the road. Staff members and volunteers spent the day at the Horsham Montessori Children’s House offering face painting and crafts for children. Our friends from Beat it Beads also joined us in an effort to create more beaded bracelets for cancer survivors. Many area children had the opportunity to create crafts and jewelry for themselves and for a very good cause.
The Scatter Joy Center for the Arts was alive with more exciting activities on Saturday, April 18. The morning opened with another terrarium class and the afternoon workshop featured intergenerational birdhouse building….just in time for Mother’s Day 2015.
We also hosted a meeting for the board members of the Celestia singers, a non-profit vocal music group that practices and performs in the Horsham area. Our art center and Celestia are planning on doing a couple of joint activities as 2015 progresses.
Over the past week, we have had our most active and productive week yet. We held two interesting workshops……floral arranging with Laura Kremp…….and needle felting with Janet Gerhardt. We also hosted a a farmhouse full of community members who came together to make handmade bracelets for cancer patients. Our “Beat it Beads” event proved joyful and inspirational. Visitors also continue to stop in to see our ongoing Hatboro-Horsham High School student art exhibit.
As we look forward, there are a number of workshops being offered throughout April, May, and June….and the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts will be the home of four different camps for kids during the summer. Please check our events page for details on workshops, gallery shows, and summer camps.
Coming in late June of 2015, the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts will be hosting an exhibit designed to feature to the artwork of our region’s military veterans. Those of us connected to the Scatter Joy Center for the Arts could not be prouder or more thankful for the contributions and sacrifices our veterans have made for our county. We look forward to providing a venue for our veterans’ creative efforts.
Above and beyond providing this opportunity for our veterans, we will also make sure a portion of the art center’s proceeds from the sale of this exhibit’s art will go to Meghan’s Foundation, a regional non-profit organization whose primary objective is to create awareness and develop programs to support our war veterans experiencing symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
